From the parking cross the stile and take the right hand (least popular) of the paths. This path climbs uphill to reach an old quarry. There is a path on the right of the quarry that leads to the top of the moor. From here there are some great views over to Stanage, the whole of the edge gives a great vista. Continue to follow the path, tending left to reach Bamford Edge itself. Climb up to the height of the edge. Bamford edge is not as complete as Stanage nor Burbage but around this high point the cliffs are of a similar height. From here there are good views especially over to the west with Win Hill. Continue to walk along the length of the edge, to take full advantage of the views. There is a prominent overhanging rock further along the edge. From here there is the classical view from Bamford Edge towards Ladybower Reservoir. Indeed this view is the reason so many people visit this edge. It is worth walking downhill until the path starts to drop steeply. There are good views in all directions along the edge. The Upper Derwent valley to the north, Win Hill to the west, the central Peak District to the south and Stanage Edge to the east. Stay a while taking in the views in peace, if the edge is not too busy. (2.0kms. 80m. 0hrs. 50min.)

To return, turn around and follow the path along the edge back to Great Tor. Continue along the edge where the cliffs are not as continuous as further north. Keep going until along the southern part of the edge until the cliffs have all but disappeared. Keep to the path along the edge line, continuing along the line of the edge when you meet the uphill path. Continue along the same direction until there is a clear path that descends towards the road, soon you will see the roadside parking. Continue downhill, over the stile, and back to the car.
